Parent Conferences |
|
Every November we offer conferences to our parents. Our conferences are scheduled during the same days as the Central Kitsap School conferences. If you have other children in the district, your schedule will be completely mixed up on those days anyway. Our schools will be closed on Friday, November 16 and Monday, November 19 and your conference will be scheduled some time during these 2 days. If you don't already have an appointment, we will set one up for you at the cars or by telephone. Conferences are a half hour and are held at the school.
|
| Feast Day! |
Our annual, very festive, feast day will be on the day before Thanksgiving. The children will be cooking and preparing food on Tuesday and the feast will be held on Wednesday during the last hour of class time. If you would like to help in anyway, either on Tuesday or Wednesday, please let us know. |
| Snow Days |
|
Our snow policy is the same as the Central Kitsap School District. If CKSD closes school for the day, we will also have no school. This enables us to spread the news through radio, TV, and online. If CK schools are delayed by 2 hours, there will be no morning school. If CK schools are delayed by 1 hour, come if and when you can. Please do not take unnecessary risks. If there are more than 4 snow days during this school year, we will make them up in June. Click on the link below to see school reports.

Discipline
Do you sometimes wonder when to discipline and when discipline is not necessary? Here are a couple tips that you will hopefully find helpful.
Try to decide if the behavior in question occurred out of childish irresponsibility/awkwardness or out of defiance. As an example, when his elbow knocks over the milk, it is likely because he does not have complete control of his body and its relationship with the space around him. However, when he purposely disobeys a known rule, discipline should come quick and sure. Whenever possible, make sure that your child understands the consequence that will follow an action. "If you..., then you will have a time out for two minutes." Then be sure to deliver what you promised! Do not promise something outlandish, such as "if you..., then we won't go to Disneyland" when you already have a trip planned and tickets purchased.
Another point worth considering is that you do not have to get angry when you are disciplining. A policeman does not scream and jump up and down when he is writing out your ticket. The piece of paper is the punishment, not his level of anger, right? Save your emotional strength whenever possible. ;) |
| Coffee Anyone...? |
 |
We have a new favorite Coffee Shop in town that is family friendly - The Global Bean!
Starting next week, weekday mornings from 9:00 - 11:00 you can enjoy "Mom's Time Out". Kid friendly videos will be playing and toys will be out so you can enjoy a nice cup of coffee in peace!

| Kid Quote of the Month |
|
After originally saying that she did not have a show and tell, the child stands up frantically, turns around, shows everyone the label from her pants and says, "Wait! I have a show and tell! I have a paper in the back of my pants!"
